Virtual Conference Q & A


Below are questions and answers about the 2021 CGSI Virtual Conference.

Will I need special software?
The CGSI Live! agenda uses a platform which operates in a standard web browser. You will be able to view presentations and interact with others without needing any additional software. The workshops and research consultations will be conducted via Zoom, which requires a minimal download.

I've never attended a virtual conference and don't consider myself very tech savvy. Will there be support for someone like me?
Yes! The online platform opens to attendees on October 1, giving you more than a week prior to the conference to explore the platform and get comfortable. During the pre-conference time CGSI will provide some instruction on the site. We feel pretty confident that after an hour or two of exploring the site you will be set up to comfortably participate.

Where can I see a list of the presentations?
You can view the presentations on this page or in the 2021 CGSI Conference booklet.

How do research consultations work?
A limited number of registrants will be accepted to schedule a research consultation with an experienced CGSI volunteer. CGSI research volunteers will take registrants’ information or brick wall problems and use online resources to uncover research results. Research consultations are included in the registration cost of CGSI Live! and Combo packages.

How do I register for a workshop?
You must first be registered for the conference. Then, use the separate Workshop Registration page to select and pay for the workshop(s) you want to attend.

Are workshop spaces limited?
Yes. Because the workshops are intended to be hands-on, they will be conducted in small groups. Availability is first come, first served. Workshop descriptions are available here and workshop registrations can be purchased here.

Connecting with other attendees is one of my favorite parts of a conference. How will I be able to do that?
The online platform will be set up to encourage communication and sharing between attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors. Multiple discussion areas will be setup for you to "chat" with others of similar interests.

What if I miss a presentation that I wanted to watch?
Recordings of all presentations will be available to attendees who purchase an On Demand or Combo package. Recordings will be available for multiple viewings for six months.

Will there be handouts?
All conference attendees will receive a PDF copy of the conference syllabus before the start of the conference.

I am part of a local Czech and Slovak club. Is there a way for my group to participate?
Exhibitor Booths will be a part of the conference and for non-profit groups the cost is only $25. You can read more about Exhibitor Booths on this page.
