CGSI Quarterly Program - August 2013
Czech Records Research: Online and Otherwise by Dr. Lenka Matusikova
This session began with an overview of the Czech archive system, including the National Archives Regional Archives, District Archives and Private archives.
Lenka then went into detail about the online records available for public research, and then how to research information that is not yet digitized.
Lenka is an Archivist at the First Department of the National archives in Prague, Czech Republic. She has been a Deputy director there since 1991. She received her Ph.D. in archival science at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, in 1977. CGSI has been fortunate to have her present at conferences twice in the United States, the most recent at the 2007 Madison conference. Please see the special edition of the Nase rodina of February 2008, for the two papers she presented at that conference.
Czech Records Research: Online and Otherwise – hands on research
Lenka and members of CGSI were available to help attendees with their research. Due to the demand for Lenka’s expertise at this session, we used some research questions as examples to work through as a group.
