KOCUREK KOCOUREK

PAUL or PAVEL KOCUREK, likely born Aug. 29, 1868, emigrated from a village that sounded something like BRASAVICE possibly in Bohemia or in PRESOV region of SLOVAKIA. He left from BREMEN, Germany and arrived in NEW YORK CITY sometime in 1888. We have found a large number of KOCUREKS in the VSETIN region of current CZECH REPUBLIC, but no trace of this ancestor. Parents may have been PAUL KOCUREK & ANNIE IVONIK, farmers. Would appreciate contact with anyone else researching KOCUREKS. We have details from one of the Czech church books 1558 – 1948 catholic Vsetin Zdechov 1867-1895 vol 2492 Image 241 Index K 1 repeat of vol 2489 extra “o” in Kocourek, which shows how the name KOCUREK may have been changed by a priest to KOCOUREK.
