Surname: Lhotka

I am so thrilled to being part of CGSI. I have been researching a family for a friend of mine and it has brought me here. Here is what I know.

Joseph Lhotka (b. abt 1857) married to Mary (maiden name unknown, b. abt. 1860). They married prior to 1878. They had one son, Joseph, born 3/19/1878 in Lejckov, South Bohemia, Czech Republic. The family immigrated to the U.S. 6/30/1880 (ship name Herder).

What I don’t know is about Joseph and Mary’s life in South Bohemia prior to immigration. If there is anyone with information, please respond, even the slightest piece of information would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. If there is any information for this family in the US that someone needs, let me know. Joseph & Mary had three additional children, John, Edward, and Genevieve and lived mainly in Illinois.
