Announcing: 2027 Conference Call for Presentations

CGSI will hold its 21st Genealogical and Cultural Conference at the Hilton Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport in Bloomington, MN on September 28-October 2, 2027.

Theme: 40 Years of Discovery: Honoring the Past, Building the Future

Presentations should be 50 minutes in length with 10 minutes for Q &A. These may be in the form of lecture, panel discussion, workshop or interactive discussion.

Submissions are due by November 20th, 2026 and should be emailed to Conferenceplanning@cgsi.org  

Selections will be made by February 15th, 2027 with contracts to be signed and returned by April 1, 2027.

Topics appropriate to this conference are numerous. Shown below is a list of potential subject matter. These do not need to be ethnic specific, however, relevant ethnic examples are appreciated.

  • AI in Genealogy 
  • Genealogy (Beginning, Intermediate/ Advanced, Ethnic specific)
  • History of Ethnic settlements, religious groups, churches, free-thinkers, fraternal organizations
  • Immigration/Emigration and Military History
  • Language  (script reading/writing)
  • Modes of Transportation 
  • Czech, Slovak, German-Bohemian or Rusyn community settlements and history 
  • Land (Homestead Act, Cadastral Maps, Title Searches)
  • DNA studies

The information required from speaker candidates includes: a title, one-third to one-half page summary for each presentation, the level of the presentation, a speaker bio of no more than one-half page along with a profile photo in jpg format.

Speakers selected for the conference will receive:

  • For a single one-hour conference session (including interactive sessions), speakers receive a $250 stipend and up to $500 in reimbursable lodging and travel expenses with receipts for US speakers and up to $1,000 lodging and travel expenses with receipts for International Speakers.  * negotiable due to circumstances beyond our control (for International Speakers)
  • For each additional one-hour main conference session, speakers receive a $200 stipend and up to $200 in reimbursable travel expenses with receipts.
  • For Panel discussions speakers will receive $75 up to a total of $300 for all participants.
  • Complimentary Registration that includes Thursday through Saturday lunches and an electronic copy of the syllabus. 
  • Exhibitor table
  • CGSI will record and make presentations available to Conference attendees for a limited time.  Workshops and Interactive Sessions will not be recorded.
