Schmidt

The Schmidt family from Haid, Bohemia was expelled in 1946 and transported to Germany, as the long time residents were considered to be “Volks-Deutsche” (i.e. ethnic German). Can anyone tell me where Haid is located in Bohemia? Has it been re-named? Where can the records of the town be found? Do any privacy restrictions prohibit a record review? I am interested in birth and marriage records which are more than 70 years old. If I obtain the signature of the specific (elderly) individual from Haid, can he then obtain copies of his own, and his parents’ records? He has no papers and knows only his date of birth, his parents’ names and the town name of ‘Haid’. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you very much.
