44th Annual Houby Days (festival)

May 13 – 15, 2022

Where: Czech Village (16th Avenue SW) – Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Czech Village Association presents the 44th Annual Houby Days. The weekend is filled with many activities and lasts Friday through Sunday. Follow Houby Days 2022 for the most up-to-date details.

Celebrate Czech and Slovak traditions as well as see what new Czech Village has to offer. There will be live music and entertainment, food and craft vendors, classes, Royal Court presentation, and of course Kolaches! Miss Czech-Slovak Iowa Pageant on Saturday. There will also be a SOKO Houby Days 5K Fun Run sponsored by SOKO on Sunday.

Sunday    9am – 4pm

NCSML will be offering a variety of specials the entire weekend, May 13-15:
$5 admission – Adults
Free admission – Seniors, current or veteran military members, youth and students

Free video presentations in the Hemphill Theater:
Crowning Glory: History of Headdresses
History of Kroj, including instructions on how to make your own
Treasures of Slovakia
Kolache Making

NCSML Museum Store will have 25% off selected merchandise and a special drawing for 40% off ANY one regularly priced item of $20 or more (retail value).

Saturday, May 14 • 2 p.m. Kolache eating contest at Kosek Bandstand
There is no preregistration. Contestants will sign up the day of the event signing a waiver along with their information.

Age Groups and Entry Fees:
• 10 and under ($1.00 entry fee)
• 11-18 years ($5.00)
• 19-70 years ($5.00)
• 71 and up ($1.00)

A prize will be awarded for each category.
