The Slovak Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh will be hosting the Slovak Heritage Festival 2021 virtually. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions this year, the festival, now in its 31st year, will be live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook. The University of Pittsburgh is the only university in the United States where students can take Slovak language and culture classes and opt to receive a Minor in Slovak Studies.
The festival is the second largest Slovak festival in North America and the only festival to include an academic component. During the festival, attendees regularly attend lectures and films about Slovak history, language, culture, and genealogy.
