Description

My great-grandfather, Joseph Holub, owned a multi-family house in Chicago located at 2615 S. Christiana Ave. (The street used to be called Turner Ave, but the street name was changed to Christiana Ave in the 1930s.)

Joseph Holub purchased the home sometime in the 1920s and lived in it until the day he died. I’d like to find out what happened to that house after Joseph passed away on February 25, 1941. Was it sold or did his third wife, whose name was either Mary or Marie, keep the house and tenants?

I’ve tried to look up the records on the Cook County Recorder’s office website, but their online records don’t go back to the 1940s.

I’m hoping to find someone who lives in Chicago who can look at the records up for me since the information can only be accessed in person.

I live in Arizona and I’m not able to travel because I am my elderly mother’s caregiver.

Any help would be very much appreciated – even if someone had a picture of the house from back in the day. No current pictures are available on Google Maps. I have a sneaky suspicion that the house was torn down.

Disregard. I contacted a genealogist through the website Genlighten.com who found all the information for me. Joseph Holub purchased the house at 2615 S. Christiana Avenue in Chicago in 1921. His third wife’s name was Marie and she sold the house in 1948 (seven years after Joseph passed away.)

It is definitely worth the money to pay a genealogist registered with Genlighten to find out information about your family. It’s cheaper than you think and you get a quote before the genealogist starts the job.
