Benesch in Shas, Wisconsin

Description

I have determined that my 2nd great grandfather immigrated in Sept. 1867 to easern Wisconsin(Manitowoc). He listed Shas, Wisconsin on the ship manifest as a destination. Another family, John Urbanek, did the same. I am trying to find their town of origin in Bohemia and assume that they came from the same area because they are contiguous on the manifest and list the same destination. Does anyone have any clues or hints?

Benish & Urbanek in Wisconsin

Hi Rollie,

While I have no direct relationship there are many Benish (or similar) and some Urbanek families in the Hillsboro (Vernon County) Wisconsin and Yuba (Richland County) Wisconsin Areas.

I am unaware of any location in Wisconsin called “Shas” now or in the past.
