I am seeking information about my great great grandparents, Jan Forejt (also known as Jan Foreit) and his wife, Maria Janosek Foreit, who settled in Cleveland around the Fleet Street and East 50th Street area. We have had no contact with relatives in the Cleveland area—-namely family of their daughters, Mathilda Foreit McSherry, b. 1889 in Cleveland and also Camille (Camilia) Foreit Robinson, b. 1891, d. 1981. Any information will be truly appreciated.

I don’t have the exact information you are looking for. My maiden name was Janecek, which we pronounce like Janosek. I believe my great-great grandmother was named Maria Janecek. She came to the U.S. between 1850 and 1854. I’m not sure which village she came from, but lists “Bohemia” as her place of origin.
The name Mary and Marie are common ones, so it may not be the same person. I’m not sure if she’s my GGGM or sister to my GGGF. My GGGF settled in Edwardsville, IL. His son and the part of the family that I’m from are all from St. Louis, MO.
