Wesely & Worel families aboard Hansa

Posted In
Description

I am interested in hearing from any descendants of the Adalbert Wesely and Wenzel Worel families who arrived in America 26 May 1863 aboard the same ship as my great-great-grandparents (John and Anna Nejedly) and their family. The ship was the Hansa, according to Leo Baca’s Volume 4 of Czech immigrant arrivals. The three families settled in Washington County, Iowa, soon after arrival. Particularly, I would like to know where these two families lived in Bohemia before departing for America.

Thanks,
Jeff Nayadley (Nejedly)

Jeff,

Jeff,

Sorry, when I “saved” my email going to find these address, it sent instead of just staying there. Here are the two addressed I alluded to in the first email.

Please let me know if I can help in any way. Also check google using your last names. I remember seeing the Nejedly name in the Nove Mesto records also; I can’t say that for certain regarding Worel. However, when searching one gets quite focused only on that which pertains to your own surnames.

Good luck,

Carol L.

Jeff,

I am quite sure I remember seeing the Wesely (Vesely) name on digitized Protestant church books from Nove Mesto, Zdar nad Sazavou from the Brno archives. I have not really figured out how to access most of the Protestant records generated over the years but the address I’m giving you was given to me by the man who is in charge of a website from a nearby community. Below are both addresses. You should also check the Brno archives at www. actapublica.eu. This site is in Cz and German. This site seems to have almost all Catholic records; I’ve been told that Prot records are a lower priority because of less demand for them (maybe because there were less Protestants in Cz and therefore less descendants needing to use them??). If you need help let me know.
